Project Coordinator
We are seeking a highly enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated Program Coordinator to oversee and support multiple research, training, and outreach initiatives. The Program Coordinator of the Ecological Forecasting Project at Virginia Tech will be based on campus in Blacksburg and be responsible for providing logistical support, coordinating programs, and liaising with partners. They will work closely with a team of faculty, technicians, students, and external partners to ensure the successful implementation of interdisciplinary projects, adherence to timelines and budgets, and achievement of research and educational deliverables. The ideal candidate would have strong organizational and leadership skills, a background in environmental science, and a passion for advancing the functioning of collaborative teams. This is a full-time, salaried position with full benefits.

Required qualifications:
B.S. degree
Minimum of three years of experience in project management or equivalent experience
Ability to lead big-picture planning and visioning with a keen attention to detail
Experience in the management of research and/or educational programs, including planning and execution of research projects
Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage tasks across multiple concurrent projects
Demonstrated leadership ability in facilitating collaborative teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse partners
Experience in using project management software and other technologies for facilitating collaborative teams
Ability to create and edit project documents, materials, and presentations, including schedule management
Preferred qualifications:
M.S. degree in environmental science, organizational management, or related discipline
Has received project management training and/or certification
Experience working in interdisciplinary academic research teams, facilitating meetings, and/or event planning
Experience in report writing and written communication
Proficiency in using project management software and other technologies for facilitating collaborative teams
Experience in budget management and financial planning
Two Ph.D. Students
We are recruiting two graduate students working at the intersection of freshwater ecosystem science and data science to start at the Ph.D. level in 2024
